Post Election Smiles

Couldn’t help myself – got pulled back in by some great post election tweets.  Here they are:

Finally, a tune for you:

A New Day for the US

A huge congratulations to our friends south of the border and to President Obama! I am fascinated and excited to see how this new day for the States plays out.

I am, however, disappointed that so much of the election and post-celebration coverage focused on the colour of President Obama’s skin. It should not matter in politics, what someones skin tone is. They could be purple with pink polka dots for all I care.  What matters is the ideals that the person represents and hope for real leadership and positive change. This is why the world is excited about President Obama. Not because of his skin tone, but because of what he stands for.

If you are going to look at President Obama’s race, then look at the whole picture.  This is a man that racially represents both black and white America.  This to me, represents a more exciting future then just one skin tone.  It represents a future in which we are united and skin colour does not dictate whom we marry, where we work or our politics.

Finally before I end my political autumn, I’d like to congratulate McCain on a most eloquent and powerful speech last night. “Obamas gone from being my appoinant to my President.” Well done Sir! A very well delivered speech.  I sincerely hope to see the two of you work hand in hand further building the union of your country.

The Masked Avengers Prank Sarah Palin

An amusing post I found this morning on @liesforliars blog:

Sarah Palin was prank called by Canadian CKOI comedic duo The Masked Avengers, who fooled the Alaskan governor into believing that they were French president Nicolas Sarkozy. The pranksters and Palin discussed such issues as hunting and foreign policy in the 6-minute faux interview. The Palin camp later issued a statement that the governor was “mildly amused” that she had been prank called. This is Jared, Nov 2008

Unbelievable

Apparently I wasn’t kidding when I said ‘Blonde Moments’ was soon to be a weekly column.  You wouldn’t think it possible, but guess what I did last night?  Would love to say it was something unbelievably sexy or endearing, but no it was unbelievably stupid, is what it was.

Yes, I did indeed follow up last Saturday night’s blonde moment with a repeat performance. No less to once again grab my purse from the car and by doing the exact same thing, grabbing the spare set of car keys.  The only redeeming features were that at least this time I had my wallet, it was only 7 pm and Jenni was with me with a cell phone.  Poor Jenni, we were only planning to go out for an hour and grab a bite.  She was stuck with me to 11 pm, until I could nab the spare keys.

Checking my roots very closely in the mirror today to see where the blondes coming from.
