Get on the Bus …. to Yorkton

Excited to be heading off to my first ever Yorkton Film Festival this week!!!!  Going with Tris Hussey and Erica Hargreave to cover the lighter side of the festival.  So if you want to read about boring interactive storytelling, social media, future of media stuff …..blah…blah…blah, then go read what they have to say on the m2o blog and on Bridging Media.  And if you want to read all the important things about the latest party, the whose who and what I wore to what party read here.

On the note of parties, I do hear that the Yorkton Film Festival is not only THE oldest film festival in North America, but THE best party.  And I do promote safe partying, so if your looking at how to get to Yorkton and are coming from Regina, leave the car behind and get on the bus.

That’s right!  I’m busing it on what I like to call the ‘Yorkton Party Train’ (yes, I know a bus and train are two different vehicles, but ‘train’ just sounds so much cooler).  You too could bus to Yorkton and hang with me (and Tris and Erica).  And you can do it for free!!!  Here are the details of the ‘Yorkton Party Train’ (aka the SMPIA Bus):

SMPIA in partnership with the Yorkton Short Film and Video Festival is pleased to announce that for the first time, transportation to and from Yorkton will be completely free to all delegates departing from Regina!

Join us for a unique networking and screening opportunity as we roll our way across the prairies!

This year, the party starts at home as the ride out there becomes a social event itself!

Why ride up and back alone?  Get on the bus!

GINgerly Taunting Pregnant Ladies

I know I come across as all sweet and lovely, but truth be told I like to taunt pregnant ladies.  Awful I know, but it really is a lot of fun.  You should try it!

The particular pregnant lady that I am currently taunting is Kerrie from Crunchy Carpets.  You see Kerrie loves gin and was recently invited to THE most fabulous party put on by Bombay Sapphire on the 58th floor of the new Shangri-la.  And because she’s pregnant, she couldn’t properly enjoy!  So she kindly offered the tickets to me.  Clearly that was before she realized that I get my kicks from taunting pregnant ladies.  So even though, I’ve already posted my favorite Bombay Sapphire gin bevie on Wet Coast Woman, I need to rub it in a little more here with the pics from the night:

Oh and here is the gin drink (courtesy of Bombay Sapphire) that got away, that I think may have been my favourite had I enjoyed it.  Sometimes I’m just too polite as I gave it to my guest, Richard:

Sapphire Ginger Mint

Glass: Highball or Collins Glass

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz    Bombay Sapphire Gin
  • 3 oz            Ginger Ale
  • 6                  Fresh Mint Leaves

Method:

  • Place the mint leaves in your hand and clap once to open up the flavour.
  • Add all ingredients to the glass and fill with ice.
  • Stir well to mix the mint flavour through the drink.

And Richard’s favourite gin drink from the night:

Sapphire Comopolitan

Glass:  Chilled Martini Glass (medium size)

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml           Bombay Sapphire Gin
  • 25 ml           Triple Sec
  • 50 ml           Cranberry Juice
  • Squeeze of Fresh Lime

Method:

  • Shake vigorously in a mixing glass filled with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass.
  • Garnish with a flamed orange peel.

Thanks so much Kerrie, Ian Barr, Victoria Taylor, Ayesha Khan, Murray Bancroft and Merlin Griffiths!  An absolutely delightful evening!  Richard and I greatly enjoyed ourselves!

This brings me fond memories of Fuzzywiggle Furrypants youth:

FFR’s Wiley Weekly Word: Hankering

I know I haven’t been instilling feline wisdom in you for a few weeks, but I was in a bit of a spat with my two-legger.  SHE went to see Beams and his two-legger without me.  The nerve!!!!  Does she not know …  Okay I’m stopping myself, because I’m above that.  In fact, I’ve decided to insert the claws, because today is the day that the two-leggers call Mother’s Day and although us felines don’t really have a word for ‘mother’, this is what my two-legger calls herself.  I think it means ‘bringer of food, cleaner of mess and most fantastic cuddler’.

So this week’s word:  Hankering

Hankering: A yearning or longing, like the kind that happens in the pants of a two-legged male during the Spring.

‘Two-Legger, Lord Likely’s pants often display the signs of a hankering and not only in the Spring.  Based on the strut that Lord Likely has around my two-legger. I’d say he has a hankering for her, but then again he struts like that around all female two-leggers.’

Right now I have a hankering to give my two-legger a cuddle, especially since shes upset over her Mom. Hate seeing her upset. Photo by Lola May.
