Ross Neilsen RAWKS Vancouver Tonight!! (Saturday May 19th, 2012)

For those of you that have been reading along the past few months, you may recognize the name Ross Neilsen, the dark, mysterious, and terribly funny Blues Man that has been finding his way into mine and Roamancing’s stories as we keep bumping into him on the road.  We’ll I am pleased to say, he is rolling into Vancouver today, just in time for my homecoming.

You can catch Ross tonight (Saturday May 19th, 2012) and me with my feet a stomping at Pat’s Pub and Brewhouse at 403 E. Hastings St. at Dunlevy Ave in Vancouver. Show starts at 9 pm.

Curious as to what Ross sounds like?  Here is my favourite youtube video of him:

Tonight he will be playing with his new band, which I am very much looking forward to hearing.  The band includes Karl Gans (previously from Ross Neilsen & the Suffering Bastards) and Young Will Pacey (the new band mate).  Speaking of which I am a little overdue sharing Episode 3 of Ross and Karl’s Great Bass Search (for Episode 1 & 2 , click on the links), so here are the fools themselves:

Really, how can you not love these boys with classy videos such as that.

Hope to see you at the Show tonight.

Kisses,

Emme xoxo

Episode 2 of @RossNeilsen’s Great Bass Player Search

A little overdue for the next instalment of The Great Bass Player Search.

Personally I think the boys are doomed bastards after giving a voodoo doll at boot.

Giving Thanks to Our Beginnings

As a storyteller, who has begun to make a full time living at my craft, I often reflect on my beginnings and give thanks to them when the opportunity arises.  It is for this reason that Ross Neilsen’s latest post and tune of the week made me smile this morning.  He is giving thanks to his beginnings as a full time musician.

Lovely!  Thanks Ross for the smile this morning and for allowing me to take a moment and reflect on my own beginnings in my craft (thank you Vancouver).

Do be sure to read the post Ross wrote to accompany his latest tune, Shine My Soul. Love the stories that go into making a good tune!

Kisses,

Emme  xoxo

Ross Neilsen Singing the Solo Blues in Ontario

For those of you reading along here and on Roamancing, you’ll know that over the past few months I have crossed paths a few time with Ross Neilsen and taken a bit of a fancy to his music.  He’s none to shabby either.  What kind of gal would I be after all to turn my back on a dark and mysterious stranger that gives damn fine hugs. I certainly wasn’t brought up that way.  The more hugs the merrier!

So given that I’m in Ontario and he’s in Ontario this month, I’ll just have to stalk him for more hugs.  I encourage others to do the same, as really who wouldn’t want to hug this man (especially after listening to the last song in this set)?

So how does one find him?  Just follow this schedule, and stay the Hell out of my way when I go to hug him at the Casabah in Hamilton (I introduced him to you, so I get to hug him first … so there!):

Ross RAWKS the Casbah

Who wouldn't want to hug a man with such cool boots?

Ross Neilsen’s Serving Up the Black Coffee

For those of you that have been following along for awhile, especially on blip.fm, you’ll know I love my slow moving weekend coffee blips.  So was pretty excited to discover this morning, while posting a ‘Tune from the Road‘ on Roamancing, that Mr. Ross Neilsen was serving up some ‘Black Coffee’.

If like me, you love listening to artists play around with making tunes and writing their own music, you’ll want to follow along on Ross’ blog as he’s taking on the Song of the Week Challenge.  Was first introduced to this concept when Bronwyn Malloy was interning with Ahimsa Media, and lending her pen to my site, and I have to say it gave me a huge appreciation for the creativity and hard work these musicians put into their craft.
