Justin Beiber!?!  Really that’s what you’re exposing her to?  Clearly it’s time Rob Jones and I start her music education on the indie scene.

A Little Disappointed I Missed White Spot's Car Hopper Days

So pretty cool that White Spot is offering an affordable option for a comforting meal on Christmas Day, right?  But that is not the exciting part or why I’m writing about this.  The really cool part is that White Spot at Richmond Centre and on Kingsway and Knight in Burnaby are doing this all for charity.  The staff actually donate all their time and tips and come into work on Christmas Days in order to raise money for charity, and they’ve been doing this for over a decade now.  And the two franchises donate all net proceeds from the sale of food to charity.  Last year, together, the two franchises raised over $10, 000 in the one afternoon.  This year the funds are going to generate much needed funds for the Richmond General Hospital Foundation and Variety: The Children’s Charity.

Tonight I was talking with my Dad about Christmas presents.  He told me that growing up each year he just had one present.  Without really realizing it, he had set up the same tradition for us, albeit slightly masked by the gazillion presents Mom buys for us.  Dad’s present every year actually represents my favourite holiday tradition.  His present is not a tangible one, but rather one about sharing time together enjoying something very special, the Arts.

The Talented Cast of Characters in Christmas on the Air

I think I’m pretty lucky to be able to regularly enjoy great theatre and music live with my loved ones, but I was reminded before leaving Vancouver that we are very fortunate in VanCity to have a lot of talented actors and a number of theatres and theatre companies.  This delightful reminder came in the form of Christmas On The Air, a heartwarming play about the holiday hiccups of one family coming together to put on their annual Christmas Eve Show for listeners on the radio.  It doesn’t hurt that I already have a great love for radio plays, but seeing the actions and expression that went into this family creating their Christmas Eve radio plays cracked me up.  Such a talented cast (Diana Kaarina, Benjamin Elliott, Seana-Lee Wood, Lalainia Lindbjerg, Damon Calderwood) of terribly funny character actors! And like my family they fought, laughed and cried, along with singing festive tunes, which completely put me in the Spirit of Christmas.

If you wish to enjoy the gift of the Arts with your loved ones this Holiday Season, Christmas on the Air is on at the Pacific Theatre until January 1, 2011.  The theatre itself could also use a gift to stay on the air.  They are looking to raise funds to keep on going in the New Year.

Not only are these two men sexy, but they’re smart too.  No, not because they create witty lyrics and amusing videos, but because they knew they couldn’t create a Canadian music video without ME appearing somewhere in it.  I mean, come on, why other Canadian artists haven’t seen the error in their ways yet by leaving me out, I’ll never fathom. Clearly they are not as smart as these two men.  So here you have it, my first music video (oh yeah, and Mark and Kevin’s too), Oh Christmas Tree Oh 21st Century:

Yep, you guessed it!!!   That incredibly sexy shoulder that passed the camera in the street corner Santa scene was me!  And if you note, Mark’s wandering gaze, moments after, that’s him being a dirty old Santa and checking out my ass.  True story!  And yes, I will happily sign (kiss) you an autograph, but you’d better get in line fast, as with my new music video fame, I may have to start charging for them soon.

So aside from my obvious prowess in front of the camera, the kid (Emma Jordan Leiren Young) was pretty darn talent too.  I filmed a few exclusive interviews with her, you know on Pet Beauty Tips and the likes, that I promise to share over the next few weeks.

In the mean time, you can check out a few of the stills.  Sadly, I’m only in a few of them, as I was too busy being the genius behind the camera.

I have been a little remiss in announcing the finalist photos in the running for the brand new $300 Fujifilm Finepix S2000HD digital camera that is currently sitting on my desk.  Not sure if my excuse is that I have been working too much this week or that I am just reticent about giving away such a fine camera to the winner.
