As far as week’s go, this past week has been pretty damn fantastic ~ enjoying my first music pilgrimage into the history of Rock & Roll and the Blues in Memphis, discovering some bloody fantastic Blues talent at the International Blues Challenge, cheering Canadian Ross Neilsen on in the Semi-Finals of the International Blues Challenge, and coming home to discover some simply beautiful music that Chris Blake has written for Roamancing.  Now to top it all off, I went to pull the name of a winner for Studio 58‘s Julius Caesar tickets and was thrilled to pull Kelly Lui’s name, who interned with Ahimsa Media this past summer.  To make this especially fantastic, I went to congratulate Kelly and discovered it was her birthday!  Happy Birthday Kelly!

For those that entered, but didn’t win, we are entering you for a second chance at the tickets on Roamancing’s site.  For anyone unaware of the contest, that wishes they’d entered, you can still do that on Roamancing’s site until midnight.  Just drop us a comment with which Shakespeare play you would most love to see as a gender bender (ie. with men and women playing opposite gender role). What are the tickets for you ask?

For a Fighting Chance Productions, rendition of Forbidden Broadway!  If you’re not familiar with this show, it is Gerard Alessandri’s spoof of musical theatre, taking a poke or two at a number of much loved Broadway Productions, including Wicked, Mamma Mia, Annie, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, and Hairspray.

I for one am greatly looking forward to a few chuckles to ring in the New Year. Also looking forward to being entertained by some Van City talent, including Andrea Bailey, Natalee Fera, Aaron Lau, David Nicks and Cathy Wilmot.

So how do you win?

I have a pair of tickets to give away to this Thursday night’s performance.  To enter to win, check out a Fighting Chance Productions site and comment below with the name of one other production that they are putting on in 2010, by midnight tonight PST.

Sorry about being a few days late on posting our Reading is Sexy 2010 Calendar Contest. Exhausting week. At any rate, here it is!!

Hey Fuzzy ….ouch ….okay Fab Feline Royale it is then – just don’t swat my writing hands, these are what pay for your top of the market, gourmet kitty chow.  Okay everyone, ‘FFR’ wants you to know that all the hissing, yowling, spitting and scratching came from Kittyn, who apparently is having issues about being told she is no longer the top cat in these parts. My official statement, however, is one of gushing pride that my fuzzy, little child is so brilliant as to learn how to type and write English. OUCH…. okay, okay ‘FFR’, I will stop gushing, but there is NO WAY I am referring to you as the Master.

So we digress, our compromise, post cat fight from the two divas – is that it is now ‘Love Letter to the gals & Goddes… OUCH…..Okay ….’Love Letters to the Goddess & gals‘ …. and NO ‘FFR’, I am NOT putting ‘& gals’ in brackets.

To encourage you cats to write us cats loads of Valentines, we have a new contest announcement.  Cypress Mountain has given us four passes for the Chocolate Fondue Snowshoe Tour. Thanks Cypress! Apparently Lola & ‘FFR’ don’t do snow, so Kittyn & I are giving away two dates to two lucky Vancouverites to join us this coming Saturday night – February 7th.  Yes – apparently this is the only way we can get dates, we’re not dwelling on that though.

Contest Name: A Very Sexy Christmas

Contest Location: A Very Sexy Christmas Group on Flickr

What?: A Photography Contest on flickr that focuses on the lighter side of the winter holidays and whose sole goal is to make you smile and cause a chuckle or two.

The Photos: Any photos that in some way involve a winter holiday (Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year’s .. etc) and put a smile on your face.

We say ‘sexy’ in the title, but for us ‘sexiness’ is a state of being. It’s a feeling that makes you feel good about you and because ‘smiling’ and ‘laughter’ are incredibly sexy, any photos that make you smile or laugh are eligible for the contest.

What is not eligible are pornographic shots (these really aren’t all that sexy in my mind) and nude shots (exceptions are given here, if you can’t actually see any naughty, little bits – such as this photograph that was very tastefully done and is in my mind incredibly sexy and very clever.

Oh and anatomically correct gingerbread men and women and naughty ornaments are highly encouraged as they make the juvenile side of me laugh.

How to Submit a Photo in the Contest?

• Join flickr, if you are not already there.
• Upload your sexy or just plain funny holiday pics to ‘A Very Sexy Christmas’.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of my Best and Worst Ever Gifts, so I’m feeling the need to subject you to the story instead, mainly because the Worst Gift Ever involves Lola.  She and I were at a Christmas present stealing party.  Everybody brought a present and you took turns ‘opening’ or ‘stealing’ presents.  When my turn came round, I choice an especially interesting looking present that Lola had brought.  Being especially proud of this present she watched on with bemusement whilst my face fell upon opening something as uninteresting as a bag of potato chips.  In her defense, they were Miss Vickie’s Potato Chips, but still.  What was she thinking!?!  After a second or two, I gathered there was more, so I turned the bag over and there was some of BC’s finest crop, which although it created some understanding, was in my mind the worst present ever and it showed all over my face.  And no – I am NOT a stick in the mud, its just that it gives me migraines and it wasn’t until after this particular incident that Lola showed me that what I couldn’t smoke, I could eat.  Thankfully my disappointment was overshadowed by much glee from others in the room and the present was quickly stolen away from me.
