Clearly Jon Jennings intent in sending me this is to help solidify the New Years Resolution of keeping my dating in 2011 in an offline world:

Some of you may have noticed that the Autumn of 2009 got a wee bit unhealthy for me. I worked too hard and didn’t take care of me, despite reminders from Jennifer and Rob that my well being was the most important thing at the end of day. I did hear them, but their would always a more pressing matter that needed my attention whenever I’d scheduled ‘me time’, and as a result I ignored my needs. I didn’t get enough fresh air, exercise or eat as healthily as I normally do.

I am resolving to change this in the New Year. I have to change this in the New Year for my own health. You see, all that unhealthy living has resulted in my feeling quite uncomfortable, as my belly has grown uncomfortably large, and the good doctor tells me it is dangerous for ones heart to carry too much around your waist.

This doesn’t change my philosophies on body images. I still don’t believe in dieting, but rather am a fan of healthy living, including good food and exercise. And I think bodies of all shapes, sizes and ages can be beautiful and sexy. My body, however, is feeling uncomfortable and unhealthy to me, so it’s time for a change and hence, a New Year’s Resolution.

My New Year’s Resolution: To return to my normally toned and healthy feeling self.

How: By getting fresh air and exercise at least 6 days a week and eating healthily.

Evaluation: To stick to my goals, stay on task and for added incentive, I will be photo documenting this New Year’s resolution every two weeks on flickr. Come cheer me on.

I have been a little remiss in announcing the finalist photos in the running for the brand new $300 Fujifilm Finepix S2000HD digital camera that is currently sitting on my desk. Not sure if my excuse is that I have been working too much this week or that I am just reticent about giving away such a fine camera to the winner. Huge thanks to Get on the F List for donating the camera and thus putting me in this current state of longing.

At any rate, I do need your help in selecting a winner for this rather desirable camera, as the competition is too damn stiff for me to do it on my own. Just a final reminder that our holiday photo contest on flickr, ‘A Very Sexy Christmas‘ closes for submitting tomorrow, Sunday January 4th at midnight PST. Photos don’t have to be Christmas related as long as they are from your winter holidays and are either amusing or sexy in nature. All the rules can be found on our previous post. Voting will be under way next week and the winner will receive a $300 Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD digital camera. ‘A Very Sexy Christmas’ – Holiday Photo Contest

Here it is – drum roll, please – our first contest involving a ‘real’ prize (aside from my admiration, of course).

The Details

Contest Name: A Very Sexy Christmas

Contest Location: A Very Sexy Christmas Group on Flickr

What?: A Photography Contest on flickr that focuses on the lighter side of the winter holidays and whose sole goal is to make you smile and cause a chuckle or two.

The Photos: Any photos that in some way involve a winter holiday (Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year’s .. etc) and put a smile on your face.

We say ‘sexy’ in the title, but for us ‘sexiness’ is a state of being. It’s a feeling that makes you feel good about you and because ‘smiling’ and ‘laughter’ are incredibly sexy, any photos that make you smile or laugh are eligible for the contest.

What is not eligible are pornographic shots (these really aren’t all that sexy in my mind) and nude shots (exceptions are given here, if you can’t actually see any naughty, little bits – such as this photograph that was very tastefully done and is in my mind incredibly sexy and very clever.

Oh and anatomically correct gingerbread men and women and naughty ornaments are highly encouraged as they make the juvenile side of me laugh.

The Prize: a Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD digital camera valued at $300

How to Submit a Photo in the Contest?

Join flickr, if you are not already there.
Upload your sexy or just plain funny holiday pics to ‘A Very Sexy Christmas’.
To be eligible to win, visit Get on the F List, find the Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD digital camera, read about it and find your favourite feature of the camera. Write your favourite feature of the camera as a comment under your submitted photo(s). *Without this comment, your photo is ineligible*
Submit as many photos as you wish.
Submissions close at midnight PST on January 4th, 2009.

Voting:

You may vote for as many photos as you’d like, as long as they’re not a photo that you submitted.
You may also only vote once per photo.
To vote, comment on the photo with *You’ve been kissed*. If you are shy about this you can always say *You’ve been kissed by A Very Sexy Christmas*

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of my Best and Worst Ever Gifts, so I’m feeling the need to subject you to the story instead, mainly because the Worst Gift Ever involves Lola. She and I were at a Christmas present stealing party. Everybody brought a present and you took turns ‘opening’ or ‘stealing’ presents. When my turn came round, I choice an especially interesting looking present that Lola had brought. Being especially proud of this present she watched on with bemusement whilst my face fell upon opening something as uninteresting as a bag of potato chips. In her defense, they were Miss Vickie’s Potato Chips, but still. What was she thinking!?! After a second or two, I gathered there was more, so I turned the bag over and there was some of BC’s finest crop, which although it created some understanding, was in my mind the worst present ever and it showed all over my face. And no – I am NOT a stick in the mud, its just that it gives me migraines and it wasn’t until after this particular incident that Lola showed me that what I couldn’t smoke, I could eat. Thankfully my disappointment was overshadowed by much glee from others in the room and the present was quickly stolen away from me.

Best recipe for holiday survival and to enjoy your loved ones is not to take everything so seriously and remember to laugh. Chances are if your laughing everyone else will join in.
