The Chocolatey Snowshoe Verdict

moonlit snowshoe for two by paul+photos=moody.

Not an easy thing to do to decide on the perfect dates for Kittyn and I for tonight for our delightfully romantic winter date to Cypress Mountain.  I’ve wanted to go on the Chocolate Fondue Snowshoe Tour for so many years now that this is not a decision to be made lightly.  Also I have to say, theres been some damn sweet, most flattering and rather amusing Valentines.

No. 9: Dark chocolate fondue by afloden.

So here are my thoughts:

Would love to take either Clive or Christian (@daubu), but they live too far away to make it here on time.

Adore my little Dose of Lunacy (@monicahamburg) and @saltybean, but they hate snow and I don’t want them ruining my love of snow (already I’m thinking of gagging Kittyn, at least until we arrive at Hollyburn Lodge).

Raul will always be my Valentine, but I may have to strangle him if he starts whispering ‘sweet Microsoft Vista nothings’ in my ear, so he’s out, as that would take away from the romance.

Tris, the Hussey, is a taken man and I want a bit of romance, so he’s out.

My ginger’s letters made me laugh, but call me weird (and many have), but I don’t find having my eyeballs plucked out with a spoon to be all that romantic and I want romance.

@ericaha is the perfect snow loving gal, but she confessed to me that she actually already has plans for this evening.  Should have known the good ones would go fast.

It is for my desire for romance that I’ve decided to make Keith my date.  His letter is the most romantic and I do have to admit that he’s a good kisser, plus he likes nibbling on my ears.

For Kittyn, I’ve decided that ‘Savannah’ would be the perfect date for her, as they are both brats and deserve each other.

Congrats Keith and ‘Savannah’!  Looking forward to discovering how the night unfolds!

Kisses,

Emme

Valentines for Moi!?!

happy valentines day - pink gerbera with a heart of chocolate! by Vanessa Pike-Russell.

Well, I am pleased to say that to date, despite the yowling of Miss Fuzzywiggle and her Royal Majesty Queen Kittyn all of the love letters that have come in have been for little old me!!!!  Definitely feeling the love this Valentines, not that I don’t feel it everyday from my close friends, family and little Miss Fuzzywiggle Furrypants.

So here are the first few:

In the form of tweets from a couple of Van City’s sexiest gals and my female lovers -

@saltybean “I love you!”

@monicahamburgI love you. I hate snow.”

Love the two of you too!!!  That said, I want a date that likes the snow, I know that neither one of you are that girl.  As for your unCanadian-like snow hating, I am thinking we could take that up in a therapy session.

Finally a bit of email love, from my whisperer of sweet SEO nothings:

il fait chaude (x) by the Frankfurt School.

Dear Emme,

Oh to be able to open an bottle of wine in front of the fire while we choose a new theme for SexyInVanCity. To linger over Ubuntu updates on matching netbooks and sit snuggled watching the downloads. But alas, I cannot be so lucky. For my heart has been claimed by another.

If our paths had crossed sooner, I’d be able to share chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne while we look for new adornments for our laptops.

Later we’d shop online to buy romantic things, find clever ecards, and sweet nothings.

If my heart were free I could send you DMs of how wonderful and sexy you are. How you are adored and loved, and yet I can’t.

I can only watch with jealousy the man who gets to share your company.

Oh to be your geek…

I am, however, the geek for a lovely operatic soprano who is my world.

The bittersweetness of it all…

Hot, damn hot.  Dangerous though, for the fear of an unrequanted love and how could a gal not fall in love with the whisperings of SEO nothings.

Hmmm….. what to do????  Any other contenders?  There is still time to get your letters in. Due to my schedule tomorrow (or today – looking at the time and early hour), I am actually extending entries to midnight tonight (Thursday) and then will announce the winner in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Holiday Tip #2: Get Help

No – I am not suggesting medical attention or the men in white jackets (well at least not for all of you).  What I am suggesting here is that you take advantage of all the holiday promos that are out there to make the final days of holiday shopping more bearable and less stressful.  I’m done my holiday shopping, but got dragged into a mall by my sister this past weekend and trust me you don’t want to go there and if you do, you want to make it a quick and dirty affair.  Thankfully Bella was quick, so her life was spared prior to full meltdown on my part.

@GetontheFlist tweeted me about such a ‘holiday helper’. ‘Get on the F List‘ is a campaign being put on by Fujifilm Canada to inspire better gift giving, rather than the mad dash of ‘damn it’s the night before and I don’t want to spend the next year in the dog house’.  As a part of this, their site has a simple 5-step Gift Finder to help you brainstorm shopping ideas for the people on your list. What I personally like about this campaign and gift finder is that whilst they do suggest a variety of fuji cameras for the people on your list, they also give you a variety of non-camera, non-fuji suggestions.  In addition, they offer a blog with gift advice from 31 Toronto and Vancouver retailers.

Another gift buying suggestion for those of you in Vancouver this weekend is that the Women’s Winter Faire is back Saturday & Sunday, December 20th & 21st at Heritage Hall on 3102 Main St (by the corner of 15th) from 11 am – 6 pm.  Sad that I am not in Vancouver this weekend as my favourite new Vancouver designers, mother- daughter duo, Jen Hong and Morgan of Salty Bean are going to be there selling their salty critters and critter ware.  Really didn’t get enough critter chains from them at the last fair and should have bought a doll or outfit for my new niece.  Damn Raul for distracting me.  Oh and if it is anything like the last fair there will be lots of other great finds for your naughty and nice lists.  A couple of pics below from Raul’s and my November adventure there!

Oh and if anyone else has any other last minute shopping suggestions, please fire us a note.

Unleash Your Inner Freak This Christmas

In case you didn’t notice on flickr, I am ‘unleashing my inner freak’ this Christmas with the designs of Salty Bean!

A Salty Bean Original by you.

In all seriousness though (cause let’s face it I don’t just leave Christmas for unleashing my inner freak), one of my favourite new Vancouver designers has a couple craft fairs coming up and for no other reason, then that I want her to be successful so she keeps making cool stuff for me to outfit myself, my family and my many nieces with, I am thinking it might be in my best interest to share this little gem with the rest of you cats.

So whom is this designer that I speak?  The brand is Salty Bean and the designers are a mom and daughter team, Jen Hong and Morgan. They started by making dolls / mini monsters that caught my eye, as they have some that are actually anatomically correct.  Since then they’ve started on clothing, key chains, bags, hats and whatever else titillates their imagination.

Cute little beans by you.

Where can you find them?  Well – this weekend, November 29th and 30th, they will be at the Women’s Winter Faire from 11 am to 6 pm at Heritage Hall at 3102 Main St (at the corner of 15th).  If you can’t make this weekend, they will be there again on the weekend of December 20th and 21st at the same bat time and same bat place.

Just be aware, if you get between me and a Salty Bean design that I want, I bite.

See you there this weekend!

Emme
