Win Tickets to Launch Party 10 (aka Van City’s Digital Coming Out Party)

I’m a busy gal and I can’t make it out to everything or write about everything, although I’d love to, but there is one event I always do my darnedest to get to and that is Vancouver’s Launch Party.  LPV was started up by the sexy cats at Strutta and carried on under Maura Rodgers and Danny Robinson’s new endeavor, the Bootup Entrepreneurial Society. The next of which is on Wednesday December 1st at 6 pm at Canvas Lounge.

I cheekily call Launch Party ‘Van City’s Digital Coming Out Party’, because for me it was just that.  Way back at the first ever Launch Party, which involved more than a few beverages, dancing the night away, some sexy new technologies, and even sexier tech geeks (one of whom shall remain unnamed offered to buy me a house at LPV1 – I told him I could buy my own house), I had my own coming out tech style. Yep, even though I was not one of the technologies on exhibition, that party was my launch into the digital sphere and many of the sexy geeks in the room that night helped to launch me to where I am today.  How?  Well, you’ll have to bribe them with alcohol and see if they’ll tell you. So what’s Launch Party to me?  It’s my Homecoming, where I go to celebrate all those sexy techies who helped make me who I am, and a place to check out and help launch the latest in sexy technologies, many of which end up aiding me in my storytelling.

What’s Launch Party to others?

A lively mixer for the city’s brightest entrepreneurs, tech junkies, and bloggers, who are doing it, have done it or want to make their ideas happen here. The goal of the event is to connect BC’s growing community of Internet and new media leaders with investors and other trailblazers across Canada and abroad.

A few locals will tell you right here what Launch Party is to them, through their favourite Launch Party moments:

Now, thanks to Launch Party, I have a pair of tickets to give away to LPV10 this coming Wednesday.  All you have to do is drop me a line in the comments and tell me why you want to attend LPV10 – whether it’s to check out the latest technologies, flirt with geeks or mix and mingle with some cool cats, I don’t care, as long as you have a reason.  Then at 9 pm on Saturday November 27th, I will stick the names of all of the commenters in a hat and draw the name of one lucky winner of the pair of tickets..

Look forward to seeing you at LPV10!

Kisses,

Emme xoxo

Strut Your Stuff at VanTechKaraoke

We all know Van Tech can lip dub ….

…but can they karoake?  Raul claims he can.  Check him out tomorrow night at the inaugral VanTechKaraoke, Wednesday April 8th, 8 pm on at Shenanigans (1225 Robson Street).

Time to Strutt your Stuff!

In case you hadn’t heard, one of Van City’s sexiest start ups and a personal favorite of ours – Strutta – went public on Tuesday!!!

Basically they are the “Olympiad of On-line Video”. They are challenging you to “strutt your stuff” by out doing them and other “players” at producing your own video content. You can try your best at out strutting the gang at Wilfrid Laurier University in the “Best Music Video” or the Strutta crew on their “Happy Dances“.

Strutta Crew

I haven’t uploaded any video yet, but when I do I challenge you to out strutt this cat at the sexiest or most titilating video categories! Speaking of cats, I bet our very own Kittyn could show Shira Lazar a thing or two in the “Best Cat Walk” Category. Perhaps it is time to start limbering up those hips Miss Kittyn!

Looking forward to seeing all you sexy devils strutting your stuff!

Game On …

So rumor has it that Strutta hosted their Super Secret Launch on Thursday night! Neglectfully, I was forgotten on the guest list, but I will forgive as obviously this was an oversight – as really what’s a party, especially a secret one, without one of the Sexy In Van City gals. Luckily I do have my spies though – so here is the dirt on the super secret launch. Just remember dear readers it is a secret so don’t tell anyone.

Game On …

So the big secret is a new online video gaming site! The Olympics of online video production! You upload your videos and challenge other online producers world-wide to out do you. They have even created a stats program with graphs so you can see who is watching your video – how old they are, their sex, where they are from … ect and how your video ranks against others in the same category. Can’t wait to see how others rank against the new series of Sexy In Van City videos that we are creating. Strutta – all will be forgotten (regarding neglected invites) if you just give this gal a ticket to the game. The email address for the account is emme@sexyinvancity.com . I have a video of The Tantra Teacher that I want to post. You do have a category for “How to Create the Ultimate Orgasm”, don’t you?

Rumors

Oh and speaking of games, rumor also has it that the Dashing Young Playboy got down on one knee before Madame Strut on Thursday night to propose. This boy obviously has impeccable taste, but I am guessing that not all games are safe. This certainly is a dangerous one as our Dashing Young Playboy works for none other than Madame Strut’s suitor in arms, the Dastardly Chicken Strutter. You had best put your Game Face on my Young Playboy, as you wouldn’t want a second hospital visit in less than a week.

Love and light,

Vancouver Launches the Sexy and the Savvy for the Third Time

Well my friends, the fever finally broke in time to launch myself into the New Year at LPV3. Another fabulous event sponsored by Strutta, Sun, Tech Vibes, Layer7, QCDocs, and GrowthWorks. Whomever is under the misconception that techies are a bunch of computer nerds that are wall flowers at a party, hasn’t mixed it up with this group of Vancouver’s movers and shakers!

You would be hard pressed to find a sexier group of women anywhere else in Van City Friday night. And gentlemen – watch out cause this group of women doesn’t just know how to move and shake on the dance floor – they have both the brains and the brawn in this crowd. They aren’t just pretty faces – they’re gorgeous. How they were missed in TV’s Digital Media People to Watch in BC in 2008 is quite beyond me, cause this group of women are intelligent, independent, hard-working and sexy as all get out. They may still be small in numbers, but it is definitely worth an evening out to see these women move their way through the room. A few that I saw strut their way through the crowd Friday night:

  • Madame Strut herself (always sexy, powerful and in demand)

  • Sxipper’s Best Gal (looking as firey as ever back from her jaunt down South and just waiting to unleash her moves on the dance floor)
  • The Firefly (relatively new to the crowd, but certainly not shy – she managed to pull off one mean hokey pokey for the cameras and rumour has it she was offered a house Friday night by an admirer, to which she laughed and told him he was too late, she’d already bought herself one – he rebutted by offering to buy her several)
  • A rather sexy Dose of Lunacy (who was drawing the eye of many, not only from her devilish sense of style, but as a result of her antics for the cameras)
  • Miss 604 (surrounded by her adoring fans as always)

  • Canada’s favourite Coal Girl (forever busy and on the move, the room only just caught a glimpse of her looking far from sooty in an oh so stylish wrap)
  • Vancouver’s Fashion Queen (as funny as she is stylish – forever caring for any stray garments in the crowd to make sure that they too shine)
  • And of course, our very own Kittyn (who was hot on the heals of DoL hamming it up for the cameras, forever in love with the limelight – unbeknownst to her she had several compliments on her dance instruction from several men commenting on her student’s performance style – subtly utilized, of course – apparently her teachings are worth their weight in gold or $20 bills)

While at first glance you might mistake the men in this room for computer nerds, shy and cowering to the shadows – you’d be painfully wrong. The men in this room are equal to the women (and let me tell you there aren’t many men that are these women’s equals). They are not men that hide in the worlds of computers and technology, because they don’t know how to interact in the real world. These men are just as socially savvy in real life as they are in creating technology based social networking platforms. And I must say, there is many a fine dancer amongst them, not being afraid to bust a move on the dance floor. Ladies – not a bad crowd to meet a fellow – sexy, intelligent, driven men – and a lot of them. I had 4 trying to ask me out at the end of Friday night! I suppose I should ask myself why, I seemed to gently bat away their advances? A question for another day, after I’ve had a bit more sleep. Despite batting these boys away, I must say I am rather fond of them. A few that are most dear to me:

  • Mr. Facebook himself (joining us after recovering from the cursed cold plaguing our country – adorable and huggable as ever and hidden behind his camera as always)

  • The Not-So-Static Photographer (once this one finally remembers who you are – after being introduced at least 10 times – he is a wonderful soul to get to know – hiding a wry sense of humour, a big heart, and a loving gentleness)

  • Soft Lips (I have no idea who this guy is, but he keeps showing up at different events around town and I must confess I remember him based on his lips – they’re very soft and he’s not afraid to use them – I have to admit they are a rather lovely experience – that being said – watch out for this one ladies, I think those lips found there way to Kittyn, Firefly, DoL, in addition to yours truly Friday night)
  • Rubbery Duckie (always a great hugger and confidant of your hidden secrets, nearly missed Duckie Friday night as he was hopping off for an early dinner – obviously a little brighter than those of us that forgot to eat – thank you Madame Strut for your infinite wisdom and timing on the pizza)

  • A Bright Guy (yet another great hugger with a caring soul – just has to watch out as he is bound to break many a young gals heart)
  • The Dashing Young Playboy (this one is full of the most amusing stories and knows how to chuckle at himself, he’s primed and ready to strut his stuff, just needs to start searching for a gal closer to his own age, he’ll find one – he has a lot to offer a girl (even without trying to offer her a house) and should find one that has equally as much to offer him – maybe K?)
  • Mr English (a fascinating fellow full of tantalizing ideas with the rare gift in seeing the magic in the world around him – this one admitted to certain voyeristic desires last night when it comes to watching the fairies dance at the bottom of the garden)

Aside from all the fascinating people watching at LPV3 Friday night, there were some equally interesting businesses show casing their vision. Amoungst them were the likes of Kinzin – These Are My Kids, DailySplice, TeamPages, TechVibes Startup Index, Bean Services, EQO, Sun Microsystems and Layer 7 Technologies. I have to admit that for me Kinzin really stood out – perhaps it was the beacon of their tall monitor or perhaps it was that I happened to be chatting with Canada’s Coal Girl, who is a part of the Kinzin Team. Either way Michael Fergusson‘s brainchild, Kinzin – These Are My Kids really spoke to me. Basically Kinzin is a private social networking site for families where they can share photos, videos and stories and make their own scrap books and albums. A site designed to use technology to bring families closer together rather than separate them. Brilliant Michael and long overdue!
