With Emme Rogers back in town, I am getting set for my own travel plans. If I could, I would get myself to Ontario in order to experience Bob Blumer up close and personal in his Live and Uncorked tour. I was late to catch on to Bob, having just tuned in for the last season of Glutton for Punishment, and I thought my only satisfaction would come from watching the DVDs of the other seasons. When talking about great chefs, we usually hear about the great culinary experience they have created upon a plate. I have realized, that when I talk about Bob Blumer, I find myself waving my arms around, and doing dramatic re-creations of a culinary adventure that likens Ironman. Bob seems to live by the advice my dad has always given me: Constantly make new challenges for yourself so you have something to strive towards, in the process you will grow and inspire those around you with contagious enthusiasm.
On the Live and Uncorked tour, Bob and his good friend Kevin Brauch (the Thirsty Traveller and floor reporter for Iron Chef), plan to go beyond the typical meet and greet and provide ticket holders with behind the scenes tales, death defying demonstrations, culinary throw-downs, unpredictable behaviour, and a shared drink or two. I want to be a part of that! For me, going out usually involves heading over to another family’s house where the kids are all sent off to play, and the adults sit, drink wine and try not to fall asleep. This sounds like a rockin’ night out sure to light a fire in me to take some risks in the kitchen and get more out of life! Maybe one day the tour will make it to Vancouver.
