“Will You M…. M. Click Play”

January 19, 2012 By Emme Rogers 6 Comments

This lego stop motion marriage proposal is insanely cute …

… but it got me wondering.  I already spend way too much of my time online.  I don’t want my whole life here, and as much as I see and hear the irony in what I am saying, I don’t want my most intimate moments here.  It is probably why I struggle with internet dating, and quite frankly suck at it.  I’ve been online all day, I don’t then want to go hang out in the virtual bar to meet someone, I want to go to the real bar (especially as I prefer real drinks to virtual ones).

So would I want a guy to propose to me with a virtual tool, no matter how creative?  HELL NO!  It’s also so public, and I’m of the believe that a proposal should be a personal moment between two people, not the entire web. So yes, in case you’re thinking of proposing to me, that also means that proposals on Sporting Screens (or trons or whatever the hell they call them), at a party surrounded by friends, or over dinner with the families, is also out. Take me for a walk, a hike or picnic.  Somewhere where it is just you and I.

So am I alone here?  Would you want to be proposed to via an internet video?

Kisses,

Emme xoxo

Emme, I must profess my agreement with you upon such a matter insofar as the Internet may be juxtaposed with such a profound affair as a proposal of marriage. One does wonder as to the catalyst that propels such an endeavor from a concept to an action. Is a potential suitor afraid of rejection to such an extent that he thinks a woman incapable of rebuffing his entreaties to her if he puts her in a public position and causes her to wonder as to what people would think of her if she were to refuse? Indeed, the devolution of society in regards to its ability to communicate effectively and with propriety is something of lament in this era. We can only hope that we do not continue in this present course of our journey, and, if my discretion is not questioned in including such a piece of information, and if my gentlemanly character is not jeopardized as a result of this iteration, I can assure you that my proposal of marriage to a woman shall manifest itself in a considerably private nature without the advent of technology. You have initiated an interesting discussion, and I am grateful that you have allowed me to include my humble thoughts upon it. I proffer my ingratiation to you for your felicitous nature and your courteous demeanor. I humbly remain very respectfully yours.

I love your humble thoughts here Tyler. So eloquently put, and I suspect you are quite right, as to why some people choose to propose in such showy manners.

      Thanks Tyler!

Like Pamela said.., nope. And like Tyler said, but I’m not repeating all (nice comment by the way). I also wonder whether these boys do it publicly in order to stalemate their partner.
No I did it in private before the Internet and I’d do it in private still.., way to personal to share with the world or use technology… (but I don’t have to make that choice, luckily).

      Thanks Rogers!

Kind of sad that idea of stalemating your partner, but probably quite likely.

As a side note, I love that last sentiment with regards to your special someone.

Don't try to find a beginning or an end to this site, because there's not one. That will only cause you frustration and I don't have the money for your therapy bills. Mine are already expensive enough.
