I LOVE CBC Radio! In fact I’d go so far as to say it is my favourite programming – radio, TV or digital. The digital world just makes it better, as it means I can get video clips from the Shows and get involved in their various discussions across platforms online. As I tend to listen to the CBC Radio in the car, I’ll often get so into a program that when I get to my various destinations, I’ll continue to sit in the car to hear the end of the Show. So if my neighbours think I am weird for sitting in the parking garage in my car, that is CBC Radio’s fault.
Take today for instance. I was just on a quick jaunt to the grocery store, when I hear Gangnam Style playing on CBC Radio, and I am thinking what the **^&$#%@??? Had somebody tampered with the station??? Or at least that’s what I was thinking, until on came Sook-Yin Lee. Seems this was DNTO doing a program on dance.
Now if you have yet to hear of Gangnam Style, I will refrain from asking if you live under a rock, instead I will direct you to a post I wrote a few months back ~ My Apologies in Advance … As I mention in that post, then I was not really sure what to make of this dance, only that I was like a deer caught in the headlights with it, not being able to pull my eyes away. 3-months later, however, which included being sent a video of Young Master Mason and Little Miss Mason dancing Gangnam Style in their Halloween costumes, a hockey rink full of kids breaking out Gangnam Style mid game when the song started to play, a Mindcraft Gangnam Parody (of all things), I have to admit I’m guiltily hooked and will admit that I’m now like those kids at the ice hockey rink, breaking it out Gangnam Style whenever I hear the song.
So why exactly was Sook-Yin Lee interviewing Peter Mansbridge about Gangnam Style??? I clearly had to continue sitting in the car to find out. Seems Mr. Mansbridge’s wife works for the Stratford Festival and they had decided to create their own Gangnam Style Parody. One element was missing though ~ a mark ~ or rather dance challenged individual. Up pipes Mrs. Mansbridge, “Oh, my husband Peter can do it!” Bless her heart, as of course she hadn’t asked him. And bless his heart for doing it … with the shingles!
If that just doesn’t endear you with the man, perhaps this will as Mr. Mansbridge tries to teach Sook-Yin Lee to do it Gangnam Style in a glass walled office at the CBC:
How can you not love these two characters! Thank you for being you Peter Mansbridge and Sook-Yin Lee!
