Found my heart and soul uplifted this week, thanks to the N’we Jinan Artists and their song ‘Home to Me‘.
While this song is personal to the Grassy Narrows Nation, it spoke to my soul and what home is to me too. Funny, as where ‘home’ is to me has always alluded me at least in terms of place.
“This is the place where we love the land. Let’s work to show our pride. Keep us safe. Keep us free. … Don’t want to be tied down. We find love where we’re from and beat against the drums, it’s a beautiful sound.”
Forever meeting potential suitors from around the world, I do know, that no matter how much beauty and love I find around the world, Canada is home to me and has my heart.
“I held on to my culture, it’s been calling me back. There is a story of hope.”

Where in Canada, I do not know, but I am always at home with the people I love.
“Keep protecting the land. Don’t take it for grant, can’t neglect what we have. Stand together as a Nation, express what we feel. True conversation, address what is real. Connected to the land, we are one with each other. This is our home to discover.”
“Want peace in the land, can’t go back to battle.”
My thanks to the N’we Jinan Artists for touching my heart and soul. I hope you don’t mind if I share in your beautiful words and proudly sing your song.
