FFR’s Wiley Weekly Word: Beldam

This week’s word: Beldam

Beldam: Ancient two-legger of the female persuasion that hopefully has a good personality, as she is hard on the eyes.

‘I find it amusing to call my two-legger a beldam, not because she is ugly (she’s actually rather beautiful to me both inside and out), but because ‘she who prides herself on words’ misinterprets this word.  She thinks I am meowing ‘belle dame’, which is French for ‘beautiful woman’, so affection and treats are showered upon me.  Oh the irony of it all.’

Clearly a belle dame, not a beldam.

Clearly a 'belle dame', not a 'beldam'.

Floor Bashing Party Pics

Very proud at recently teaching myself how to post flickr slide shows (or in all honesty for being able to follow Tris‘ instructions in posting) and I got such a kick out of the PJ Party pics, that I can’t help but share the pics from another recent party – the BuildDirect Floor Bashing.  I mean really any party where they hand Tris and I a beer and a pick ax as we walk in the door deserves to be in the spotlight!  They had chickens, hockey, boccie, and balloon stomping too!!!  All from a penthouse overlooking Van City.  I mean really what more could a gal ask for!?!

Thanks BuildDirect and @clippernolan!  Always happy to add a couple of tits to your sausage parties!

This could be my dating life.

Oh my god!!!  This totally could be my life!  Hilarious when it’s not actually me.

I feel it important to state here, that I have never, NEVER ‘pooped’ my pants.

My Ada Lovelace

Oh my gosh!!!  I nearly forgot all about Ada Lovelace Day.  Blaming the fact that none of the clocks in my house have been changed since Daylight Savings.  Figure that means I have another hour to post, despite the date marker.

In case you haven’t heard of Ada Lovelace Day, it is a day in which we celebrate the sexy and savvy women of tech. One of the ways in which we do this is by celebrating these women on our blogs.

Why Ada Lovelace?  Well, because Augustus Ada King, the Countess of Lovelace, was the ‘first programmer’, not ‘female programmer’, but programmer period.  And she acquired this title in the mid 1800s.  Pretty gosh darn amazing!  And she was doing this programming for a machine not even yet built – the analytical engine – Charles Babbage’s early mechanical general-purpose computer.

Today, the woman I want to celebrate is Megan Cole.  I want to celebrate Megan as she was one of my initial teachers of social media (yes, shes the one to blame) and she did this so seamlessly that I didn’t even realize that I was learning or was being taught anything, for that matter.  Thank you Megan for opening my eyes to this crazy, mixed-up world of interactivity!  Your a gifted teacher!

PJ Party Pics

Had a great time at the PJ Party on Saturday night with @clippernolan and thought that maybe, just some of you, might enjoy the pics, so here they are:

Huge thank you to the JetSet Crew, Frances Hui and the Opus Hotel!  You cats really know how to throw a great party!  Oh and wondering if any of the chocolatiers at the Opus Hotel are single?  Going to bed fantasizing about that heavenly chocolate every night.
