Long or Short?

Without looking at the calendar, I would not have known July is just around the corner. The weather is just not cooperating with the season. Why is it still so gloomy? I want to get a suntan and show off my body in a bikini. It is safe to assume I will not get this opportunity soon with the sun playing hide-and-seek every alternate day.

However, there is still one thing I can do before heading down to the beach – I need to get a haircut. In my opinion, a new hairstyle can make one look completely different. I remember last summer I had this long, thick hair which took hours to dry off. Compelled by both my hairdresser’s urges and my eagerness for a big change, I decided to break up with my long hair. Surprisingly enough, I quickly fell in love with the new comer although one of my guy friends said that he liked girls with long hair more than short. Oh shoot, he just hurt my feelings. It wasn’t because I had feelings for him, but the fact that he told me so directly without even thinking about my feelings. Who would say things like that? Geez. Guys are sometimes really stupid. After that, I asked more friends about my new haircut and found out that the majority thought it suit me relatively well. I really appreciated those compliments.

Anyway, now I am at the point where I am not sure whether I should keep my hair long or short. It is always quite a struggle for me to decide, because I am afraid of the result. This is probably why so many people have nightmares about getting a bad haircut! Plus, my hair just grows very quickly. Very soon, it will become like a sponge again (very thick). I’m pretty lazy. I do not want to give up my beauty sleep, so I just take a shower at night and wake up with a pretty messed-up bundle of hair. And yet, after only a few combs — that’s all the ‘styling’ I’m prepared to do — I’m good to go. Therefore, I usually look for hairstyles that do not require much work such as gelling or blow-drying.

After looking through magazines, I have come to the conclusion that regardless of long or short, there are popular looks for every ‘do. With so many different hair styles out there, the most important point of searching is to find the one that you like and willing to give a shot. Ladies, we gotta be more confident in our decisions. It’s our life after all, not someone else’s. If someone — tactless guys included — does not like your hair style,  it’s not the end of the world, because there is surely someone else that does; similarly to dating!

Pant(ie)less Thursday

Keeping with my incredibly high browed theme for the week, I am declaring this Pant(ie)less Thursday!  “And let it be so!” she decreed, as her followers erupted in cheers.

Why Pant(ie)less Thursday you ask?  Well it’s in honour of the Opening Night of Fighting Chance Productions rendition of Sweeney Todd (playing Oct 13 – 30th at Jericho Arts Centre).

Now I know some of you might at this point be pondering as to whether I took too many drugs in my youth, because how do Sweeney Todd and Pant(ie)less possibly correlate.  Well, my dear friends, it’s really very simple.  Sweeney Todd will likely scare my date, Brie Mason, pant(ie)less (yes, gentlemen you’d be wise to grab whatever remaining tickets they have for tonight now).  As for me, I am bound to be scared crapless and our dear hummingbird604 to pee his pants, so logic would have it that by the end of the night, we all three, should be pant(ie)less.

But the real truth in the matter is after kissing Sean Parsons (Berger) in his tightie whities mid performance of Fighting Chance Productions’ last show, Hair, and seeing the entire cast pant(ie)less, I naturally think of an absence of briefs whenever the name Fighting Chance Productions comes up.

And in their honour, I give you this:

With special thanks from @timethief for a pant(ie)less subway ride.

Being Emme’s July Fashion Week

Seems to be a bit of a fashion week for me, and as cities and even countries declare their own fashion weeks, it only seems fitting that so should I and that I should start it mid-week.

So why a fashion week?  Aside from the clearly obvious, aka that I am just such a gorgeous glam puss that wouldn’t you all want to know what I am wearing. Well, it seems that I have joined the ranks of the fashionistas in the last week and am now on the guest list at a variety of fashion events.  Definitely not something that my Grandmother would have ever suspected of her tree climbing, bomber jacket wearing, running shoe clad granddaughter during the height of her career as a fashionista, when she owned a plush store of beautiful fabrics and tailor made women’s apparel.  But clearly since then I have learnt what the word ‘apparel’ means and I now wear dresses on my tree climbing excursions, making me uniquely qualified to discuss fashion.  Will that frock make me look absolutely fabulous and leave something to the imagination whilst I am climbing trees?  How washable is this garment when I inevitably spill red wine down my top? … All very important queries to a tomboy turned fashionable gal-about-town.

So what does the week have in store for you lot?  Well currently on the agenda (which tends to be ever changing), we have lined up:

RootsxDouglasCoupland Collection

Fashionably Fighting Chance

Now for my fashion muse:

In this picture, our model - @hummingbird604, is sporting sandle clad feet and sparkly toenails. This is all the rage for men this season.

Yes, gentleman, thats right.  It is fashionable this season to accessorize with sparkly nail polish.

So I hereby decree this Being Emme’s July Fashion Week (added the July in there, in order for sequels, which I know you are all just dying for).
